SHOT OF THE DAY – ST PAULS, LONDON

My wife and I visited London for the first time over Christmas in 2016 and totally loved this city. The pubs reminded us of our old home in Melbourne, Australia and the culture and history is to die for. One of our favorite locations was St Pauls Cathedral.

We visited early morning which was a great time to view the inside as there was very small crowds. Unfortunately you are not permitted to photograph inside the Cathedral, but you are welcome to from the viewing platform that surrounds the main dome.

After many flights of very tight staircases it finally opened to this amazing 360 degree view of the city. This shot is looking towards the newer more modern part of the city, but has the Tower Bridge over the river.

Being early morning in winter there was a great light and chill to the air causing steam and smoke stacks to let off plumes of smoke with a really beautiful haze in the background. I used my wide angle 21mm lens for this shot. It’s amazingly sharp and has little to no distortion making it a great landscape and cityscape lens.

This was my Shot of the Day!
