SHOT OF THE DAY – SAN FRANCISCO, USA

San Francisco is a wonderful city. Similar in many ways to my home town of Melbourne in Australia. Similar weather, culture and a love of coffee. Even the cable cars are somewhat similar to Melbourne’s trams.

I visited here towards the end of an epic 5 week road trip across the US with my family. I knew from the start that I was going to aim for the classic cliched shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. The trick being to find something still a little unique. On my designated sunset evening with my family, I was able to capture a series of images I was happy with. This one perhaps being my favourite. For some reason I often find myself zooming into landmarks and capturing parts of it. Almost like a game of ‘identify the landmark’. I love the way the bridge is lit up at night with the background of the main city area. Be sure to use a tripod and narrow F stop so as to capture detail from front to rear.
