SHOT OF THE DAY – PALM COVE, AUSTRALIA

This photo is one of a kind. Mainly for the reason that the day after I took this they dismantled this fine old jetty. I was in Palm Cove on holiday and happened to strike it lucky on its last day. Kinda crazy. Palm Cove is a fantastic place for a holiday. A perfect mix of chic and backpackers. I really enjoyed shooting sunrises before everyone else woke up, and then eating breakfast on the foreshore whilst the kids were still in bed. Well maybe they were? Meh, I was eating bacon and eggs!

Im a big fan of heavy ND filters for still water images. Shooting just before the sun hits the horizon enables a balanced image with lots of colour and saturation. Use of a grad filter is desirable also to help balance the sky and the foreground.

This was my early ‘shot of the day’!
