SHOT OF THE DAY – TOKYO, JAPAN

One of the most enjoyable trips Chris and I have been on was the one we took to Japan in 2019. We had planned this for some time, but just being about to take a trip that was 100% focused on photography was a rare treat when we normally have family and kids in tow, making it much harder to take, just one more photo!

I had read about Omoide Yokocho, the amazing alleyways of tiny bars and restaurants packed tightly together located in Shinjuku. I knew this would be an amazing location at night to shoot photos. The chaos of bar drinkers, the staff bringing yakitori skewers and drinks to the densely packed tables, the steam and smoke rising from the small makeshift kitchens that sometimes even hung out into the alleyways and the beautiful flowers and neon signs all adorning the exteriors.

Chris and I visited this area a few times, it just felt like one that needed multiple visits to really document and experience. I can’t wait to visit Japan again, it has quickly become one of my favorite destinations I have ever visited.
