SHOT OF THE DAY – SHINJUKU, TOKYO, JAPAN
One of my absolute favourite images form Mike and I’s 2029 Japan trip and one I’m looking forward to going back to soon. Shot a long way back from the neon lit street area and using an 85mm to get closer, creates a wonderful perspective of the night time chaos of Shinjuku. I may not have had a longer lens with me as the 85mm is an odd lens to use for this type of shot. But with zero cropping, its the perfect focal length.
We waited for some time for the people to start crossing and for a train to cross also. With pedestrians its important to stick around 1-3 seconds as this will give a sense of movement with knowledge of what the subject is. Any longer shutter creates a blur that is undesirable. Any less than 1 second and the motion isnt captured.
