SHOT OF THE DAY – WAI-O-TAPU – NEW ZEALAND

Im going completely left field with this one. Maybe I like odd images, maybe I am a geothermal nerd, or maybe I like awesome stop motion shots like this. This is a boiling mud pool at the fantastic Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland near Rotorua in New Zealand. It will feature in an entire article by itself soon as its a great place to visit. The mud pools are just north of the main park entrance and sound completely average after a couple of hours walking around the main park. They are however free and kind of awesome.

I had my fantastic 100-400mm lens with me and just shot with a high shutter to freeze the action. Timing the mud popping is a bit hit and pass but keep persisting and you will capture nature at its most weird and wonderful.

That was maybe not my ‘weird’ shot of the day!
