SHOT OF THE DAY – STAHL HOUSE, LOS ANGELES
The Stahl House, also known as Case Study Home #22, is a modernist designed home in the Hollywood Hills. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, my Dad was visiting LA and really wanted to see this amazing example of mid-century modern architecture.
I organized a tour of the home for sunset and we got very lucky. We had a relatively (or very) clear, smog free sky (for Los Angeles) that day which made for fantastic photos of the house, along with Hollywood and Downtown in the background.
I was using my old Canon G11 at this time, a great little point and shoot style camera with a really high quality build and great lens and sensor. After re-editing this image recently, I was impressed with how much detail and sharpness was in the image. Not quite what I would look for when printing it large, but it looks great on screen.
