INTRO:

You only have to browse through Instagram or visit a local photography store to see the HUGE surge in popularity for film photography. Even Chris has gotten into it! So its incredibly exciting when not just Leica is making a current day film camera – enter the Rollei 35 AF!

There are a lot of instant or Polaroid style film cameras on the market of course, and some are even made by the company, Mint, who are manufacturing the new Rollei 35 AF; but they tend to be all plastic and cheap in construction and quality.

The Rollei 35 AF has a metal body and all glass 5 element lens with coatings on both sides. I have not gotten my hands on one yet (and cant wait too!), but from the sample images shown by Mint themselves, the lens and sharpness looks excellent.

But the thing that really stands out to me is its size and autofocus ability. It’s tiny and can slipped easily into a pocket and would be the type of camera I would keep with me all the time – toss it into a car glovebox and never feel like I am without a camera!

All my other cameras are manual focus, so the idea of having something that is auto is a really nice touch with this film camera – its something I can hand to my family or friends and know I will get some interesting and different images without it always being me behind the camera.

I am really looking forward to checking this camera out and playing with it… I did say I was not buying any more cameras… but this might just make it into my bag!
