SHOT OF THE DAY – ROUTE 66 MINI MART
SHOT OF THE DAY – ROUTE 66 GAS STATION
In February, 2017 my wife and I took a road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. We had flown there a number of times but decided to make a proper trip out of it as we both love driving vacations – you see so much more that way. I did some research for cool photo opportunities along the Route 66 portion of the trip, but like all road trips, the best bits are the ones you discover along the way.
We came across this awesome old Mohawk Gas Station and Mini Mart. A very cool and run down gas station that has long since closed. It has a classic Route 66 feel and makes for some great urban decay style photos. I have tried to find out more information since online and came up with nothing. This image screamed monochrome to me when I was taking it, so I converted it to black and white using Silver EFX Pro.
So when on road trips, always (to my wife’s dismay) be ready to screech to a stop and pull over for what could end up being your shot of the day!
