SHOT OF THE DAY – KOSCIUSZKO NATIONAL PARK – AUSTRALIA
We recently returned from a week a Lake Crackenback, which is one of our favorite family locations. After completing Tasmania’s iconic Overland Track earlier in 2025, the hiking bug has caught on and with a lot more equipment, it has opened up longer and more remote trails for us.
This image was taken on a mixed weather day on the Illawong walk out of the small ski resort town of Guthega. This trail forms part of the new Snowies Alpine Walk. We stopped for lunch at the Illawong swing bridge and I finally found some time to switch to my 70-200mm lens and focus on parts of the landscape. Light was seeping thru the clouds, creating beautiful light and dark patches on the spectacular scenery of the Snowy River. The grey gritty alpine Australian landscape at its very best.
At the time of writing I had only briefly browsed the 300 or so images from this walk, but this instantly stood out to me. Whilst blue skies are always nice for shooting, this landscape lends to a cloudy moody type of sky
