SHOT OF THE DAY – AURORA, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
SHOT OF THE DAY – AURORA, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
This was the easiest aurora I have been lucky enough to photograph. The numbers filtering thru the apps had statements like ‘largest in 20 years’ and ‘highest on record in app history’. With school holidays, feeling rested generally, a clear sky with no moon, there was no debate. I’m getting in the car and driving. One and a qtr later I am near Blind Bight in Melbourne.
The sun sets and the aurora erupts. The colors were quite different but the beams more intense than usual. Very easy to see with naked eye. The longevity of this aurora was special, with this view for close to an hr. Usually its a few minute bursts every 2hrs or so. A special night indeed
